Hi my name is Preston Hammond I fish the Lake Powell re- gion of Anglers Choice. I love Bass West Magazine and each is- sue seems to get better. My family is also active fishing events in the Lake Powell region. I have met many great friends from these events and have a tremendous amount of respect for our director Allen Bratton. A couple of years ago I was involved in a tragic hunt- ing accident that almost took my life. It was a long road of recovery that weighed heavily on my family, but luckily we are active in the outdoors, which helped a ton. I found fishing to be a great help, and probably appreciate it more now than before. I have known Ja- mie Cyphers for years and I know he is somewhat familiar with my story, but I have never really shared it. I think through my recovery I am ready to now share it with everyone and was wondering if you would be interested in sharing it with all my fellow Anglers Choice members. Respectfully, PH - Phoenix, AZ

I just wanted to say how much I love Bass West Magazine. I have been a subscriber over the last 8 years and always find it informative, and probably the best looking publication out there. I just wanted to let you know Jamie that I think it’s cool that you are adding stuff all about the West, not just California. Sometimes I think people forget that the magazine started in Utah, that Nitwits were invented here and so were Yamamoto Baits. We have a lot of great lakes here and it was nice seeing some of them finally fea- tured again. JO, Enoch UT

PH - Preston it was really good hearing from you, I think the Bass West readers could greatly benefit from hearing your story. It’s an amazing one, and is a direct reflection of your tenacity on the water as well as what a great family you come from. It’s al- ways a pleasure seeing you guys, other than when you’re taking my money! Many of us sometimes take for granted how fragile life can be. I, like you, am so fortunate that my grandfather, father, and now my kids all love to fish. I look forward to talking to you in the coming months. JC

JO - If you’ve never been to Utah you probably can’t under- stand how incredible a place it is really. The scenery is outstanding and the fishing can be real strong as well. One thing about the In- termountain region is you get out and away from everyone. Anglers don’t have to wait in line to go to the lake? How bizarre is that? Yeah in Utah we actually have lakes that you just show up to and go fishing; no crowds, no fees, just nature! On the other hand we don’t have 15lb bass swimming around!! So to each their own I guess! But we will try to keep a good mix of writers and destina- tions. Thanks for the kind words. JC

I just wanted to point out that I thought Bass West was about bass fishing. I have enjoyed the Legends of the Sport column, but am trying to figure out how a guy from France fits into the mix? There wasn’t even a picture of him with a bass! Is it legends of
