strategies to themselves. When winning a new Bass Cat boat is involved, secrets are kept between partners. Winning this event and taking home beautiful trophies along with the Bass Cat boat and Mercury Motor, was the team of Mike Sanders and Matt Lindsey. Their two day total weight was 40.40 lbs and the big bass of this event weighed in at 10.25 lbs. They battled the wind throughout both days in the middle part of the lake; taking wave after wave over the bow of their boat but it was worth it. Mike told the crowd when he lifted up with his jig, this 10.25 lb. bass came out of the water. Mike and Matt were gra- cious with their win, thanking everyone involved. Second place went to the team of Joe Leone and Sam Rich weighing in a total of 38.61 lbs. They also worked extremely hard in this event. Due to the wind and the heavy wave action, they lined their pockets with gold, $5,545 for two days work, not bad. Great job team! Third and forth places were a tie. The team of Scott Stevens & Vincent Bernal who by the way, were Anglers of the Year in the Mother Lode Region tied with Jordan Harris & Jon Ramos with two days weights of 38.17 lbs. Both teams took home $2,492.50 for their two days of Mother Nature’s wrath. For all of the other prizes and places, you will have to see the standings. Throughout the year the Western Rookie League earned over $11,000.00 which was paid back at this event to the anglers; adding the option money, you will see that this event paid very well. A special thanks goes out to the town of Clear Lake and all of their organizations for helping us make this event a success. We encourage all anglers to help this community grow and prosper. A big thank you goes out to Clear Lake Bait and Tackle, Jimmy, his wife and staff for taking care of my staff, the anglers and anything that needed attention. WRL salutes you!
