weekend included spinnerbaits, jigs, spoons, shakey heads, & drop shot plastics. According to the competitors, the best spots encompassed the Cotton Wood and river channel areas. When the dust settled, the number one team was that of Dan Perkins Jr. of Altaville & John Liechty from Arnold, CA. This duo spent the day fishing the narrows & river channel with brown jigs & brown pork 15 to 30 feet deep. Their fish looked like clones with a 1.74 big fish and total weight of 8.32 pounds. Their efforts resulted In a payday of $3,065.00 which included two very nice plaques. As a point of reference, this was Dan & John’s first number-one finish and all of us here at Anglers’ Choice are very proud it hap- pened in our trail. Good Job Gents. With a total of 8.28 pounds, second place honors went to Garret & Doug Voigt, both from Modesto. They caught most of their fish on worms in Cotton Wood. Their strong finish netted them $1,730.00 and two nice plaques. Two of the seven Gomez brothers put to- gether a winning team for 3rd. Mark & Ruben Gomez, both from Turlock, caught a 1.84 spotted bass to anchor their 7.81 pound 5 fish limit. All their fish came on Berserk jigs, spinner baits, & shaky heads. These two brothers have the brag- ging rights in the Gomez family with $885.00 and matching 3rd place plaques to prove it. Team NASCAR Kenny Shepherd & partner James Burkhart, both from Atwater, also had 7.81 pounds and took 4th place good for $885.00. Kenny said they caught 20 keepers on a spoon he designed (look for it on the market soon!). I would assume that those spoons would soon be available at the Waterford Bait Barn & Valley Rod & Gun for those who might be interested Last season the Western Rookie League Angler of the Year team of Jordan Harris from Kerman & Jon Ramos from Fresno caught a 7.72 pound limit anchored by the second place big fish of 2.18 pounds. For their efforts, the duo scooped up $865.00 and got a good head start in the points race for this season AOY. Shane & Michael Soriano from Merced, CA had the big bass of the tournament with a 2.82 pound largemouth that anchored their 7.54 pound limit. Shane said he caught the fish on a Zara Spook

at the end of the day. That big fish landed them a beautiful big fish plaque and an extra $685 for a total paycheck of $840.
