So What’s New?

In the love story disguised as a mullet-wigged comedy, the character Joe Dirt blurts out ineptly, “I’m new. I don’t know what to do!” at his new job on an oil rig. Well, I’m new too but I know what to do to deliver you an entertaining and informative Bass West USA experience in every issue. Check this issue out and see if you don’t agree. BWU is not all about me though. I’m not the only new guy in these pages but before we introduce them, it’s only fair to rst credit our solid core of avorful expert storytellers – Andy Parsons, Paul Strege, David Swendseid, Matt Pangrac, Vince Borges, Ricky Shabazz, Preston Henson, Scott Staats Terry Brown, Jarrett Edwards and USAC directors Bill Hutcheson, Rick Byrnes, Dave Kilby who write our tournament reports. Readers can look forward to new stories and the latest reports from this bevy of popular regulars in every issue. • Our newest new guy, rookie writer Tyler Brinks of Florida has a great story on an- other new guy, The Federation's New Hero: Brandon Palaniuk. • We Get Crankin’ with PAA pro Mike DelVisco who’s new to BWU but quite a sea- soned pro and an uber-writer/educator. • A new column on Bass Fishing 101 has been started by The Fishing Instructor Randle Pringle. • Bass Factory is a new column and a new website and new forum community for our readers at Join the fun! • Keepin’ It in the BBZ is a new column by National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Famer and big bass legend Bill Siemantel.

Shane Beilue merges the newest shing electronic systems into a singular ap- proach for you by Maximizing the Use of Modern Electronics. Electronics guru Doug Vahrenberg kicks off a new electronics column, Open to Interpretation. The Manufacturer Spotlight is on Mike Bucca’s newly-redesigned Bull Shad Swimbait for 2011, including a new 9-incher and new custom paint shop nishes by Dwain Batey of Bait Werks fame. Learn of Jackall’s new Shad with Soul with pro Cliff Pace. Pro James Niggemeyer introduces a new prey- avored attractant and how to Get the BioEdge on Bass . Local ace Wayne Crowder gives timely tips for using new soft baits by Maniac Custom Baits. Tightlines UV is an entire new lure concept used by pro Brent Chapman who livewelled 20 Pounds in 72 Minutes! The Bassmaster Classic was on the Line. PAA pro Kurt Dove tips us off to using a new buzz frog by El Grande Lures. We’d be remiss not to mention the vendors who make their pro-staff available to give you new insights in every issue, including ima Lures, Lobina Lures, MegaStrike, SEBILE, Picasso and others. Midwest Finesse for the Entire U.S. is a new approach for many anglers and its effectiveness is elegantly understated by acclaimed writer, Ned Kehde, a new contributor to BWU. Did you and your buddy log over 5,000 bass last year? Ned did and he tells how you can too. On the Top Shelf, we debut what’s new in the world of bass shing and bass boating gear and gadgets.

This next new thing may come as a big surprise and perhaps a small reward for anyone who’s hung in to read this far! Over the course of the last year, BassWestUSA pub- lisher Mark Mendez and Editor-at-Large Jamie Cyphers have worked on getting the key components in place to deliver an outdoor TV show truly worth the viewer's time! It will begin airing this summer. The show is not separate from, but coupled to and interwoven with the magazine. I believe it is awesome. You can catch the BassWestUSA TV intro with host Jamie Cyphers by searching on YouTube for: BASS WEST USA TV SHOW INTRO Thank you for being here with us! We will strive to make each issue of BWU like a new discovery for you.
