Third place went to the always consistent team of Billy and Bobby Nelson. The brothers weighed 13.88 and caught the sec- ond largest bass of the day at 4.03 lbs. Billy and Bobby pocketed $1,020 and mentioned that they lost a sh that would have easily won them the derby. Tyson Schafer and Ryan Kahl weighed 13.76, good for fourth place and $340. Unfortunately, they weren’t in the options but as everyone eventually learns, it pays to be in the options. Great job on your catch Tyson and Ryan! Rounding out the top ve was the duo of Chris Dixon and Lamont Brum eld who scored a limit that weighed in at 13.51 lbs. Chris and Lamont won $660. Sixth went to Martin Wall and Gil Valadez with 13.35 lbs and $580. Seventh and last in the money is the current AOY leading team Bill Siemantel and Troy Lindner. They weighed 12.88 lbs and won $100. Third big sh of the derby went to Aaron Fishinger and weighed 3.88 lbs. That sh won Aaron $120. We all need to thank our dedicated sponsors who make the giveaway possible. For anyone who hasn’t been to one of our der- bies this year, we have the best product giveaway I’ve ever seen. In fact, Al Lindner showed up to watch the weigh-in and he men- tioned that the dollar amount of prizes given away was amazing. The total value of all of the giveaway prizes totaled over $2,600 retail value and every team won at least two times!!! The veteran team of Rod Blunt & John Fiehler took home top honors with a total weight of 18.71 lbs that included a 4.01lb bass that was good for 3rd Big Bass of the tournament. The team walked away from the scales with $2,558 for their work. 2nd place went to a new team of Adam East & Tom Leedom. They weighed a ve bass limit of 17.45 lbs anchored by the Big Bass of the tourna- ment that tipped the scale at 5.36lbs. Holding down 3rd place was another veteran team consisting of Dennis Kolender & Bob Palashewski; the duo had a limit of bass weighing in at 14.11lbs worth $849. 4th place went to Chuck La Vigne & Cameron Smith with a ve bass limit of 13.55lbs with the 2nd Big Bass of the tourna- ment weighing 4.05lbs. The awards ceremony concluded with a raf e for some great prizes from our sponsors, and the tournament champs telling ev- eryone how they caught their sh, mostly on plastics in both shal- low and deep water. The Anglers, and I would personally like to thank our great sponsors for what they do to make this circuit the best. Angel's Taco Bar B-Q sponsored by El Cajon Ford is without a doubt the best Bar B-Q of any Circuit. Chris Marso from Abu Garcia / Fenwick who provided the Rod/Reel combo that was awarded to Big Bass, and another Rod/Reel combo plus products for the draw prizes. Lee Mc Dowell from Dedicated Ten gave two gift certi cates for two shirt and hats to 10th place. Tom Phillip donated Pink Stuff. I also gave away a free entry for the next tournament. The Anglers Choice San Diego Region held its inaugural team tournament event at Lake El Capitan on Saturday February 12, 2011. The eld of 31 teams was stacked with some of San Diego's top sherman ready to duel it out for top honors. The day started a little cool in the low 30's at blast off, giving way to what turned out to be perfect day weather wise with the temperature in the high 70's. The water temperature was in the mid 50's, but nally reached the 60's by the afternoon. Fishing was a bit off as the bass were still holding back for most of the eld, but as with all tournaments there's always a few anglers that
