BassWest Nation

I’m happy to announce that I am back as Editor of Bass West USA after a three year sabbatical. Since my departure in early 2009 the magazine has gone through many changes, but the quality has done nothing except get better. Bass West USA’s graphic guy, Mike Margineanu, has improved the overall look of the magazine. He continues to blow me away with his graphic work from his first day right through this magazine. During my absence, the magazine has been in great hands. My good friend Dan O’Sullivan anchored the magazine for many several years and not only did he keep it at high quality, he improved on it. Following Dan, Russ Comeau did a terrific job, as well. Jon Storm, currently of, preceded my first stint with the magazine and similar to that situation I once again find myself with large shoes to fill. I am up for the task and can assure you that I will work tirelessly on gathering you information from the best writers and best anglers in the sport. I believe a lot will be different this time, but at the same time what many people love about the magazine should remain the same. Some of the changes you will notice include the removal of the tournament trail section from the magazine and more in- depth articles and tips will replace the space. Next, we are changing the magazine to quarterly (four issues per year). However, this is going to keep the magazine on schedule. Keep in mind, we are adding an ad- ditional 16 pages of content to each issue which together add up to almost full extra issue per year. Bass West USA TV has had an incredible reception and has been added to several networks. Jamie Cyphers is heading that up and he’s bringing a wide range of guests into your living room for some serious bass fishing. Season one is airing now, with sea- son two filming about to begin. If you haven’t caught the show yet, you’ll find details inside that will direct you to where and how to find it. Lastly, and this one will take a few magazines to realize, but we are going to get the magazines out on time. Same excellent quality, more content per issue and four on-time magazines a year, those are my main goals for the magazine. Personally a lot has changed with myself since my last run with the magazine. Since then I have gotten married and had two daughters. Things have also changed in my role with Bass West USA and its related businesses. Previously, I ran the magazine, the tournament trails, designed and originally built and BassTack- plus I did a ton of work on all the organizations websites and more. This time around I am only working on the magazine, which will allow me to give it the focus that it deserves. It’s been our longest time frame between issues ever and we appreciate your pa- tience. I was brought on in late and we went to work hard to bring you this issue, which is feature packed and timely (for the majority of the country) articles. We could have rushed this magazine and got you a low quality magazine; instead we spent some extra time putting it together to make sure it is of the quality you have expected from Bass West USA. I am not really one to overly tout how great the magazine is or will be. I will let the magazine speak for itself, all I ask is to give us 2 issues and I prom- ise you’ll be waiting at the mailbox from then on. We have more con- tacts in the industry than ever before and a TV show to go with it. Keep reading and we are sure you are going to love the new Bass West USA magazine.
